Can I do this...time between flights

I need two flights to hit 2000 MM points. I can do it with a RT from IND-CHI and a RT DTW-FNT in one day at a reasonable price but here is what it involves...

IND-DTW - Ticket A

DTW-FNT - Ticket B
FNT-DTW - Ticket B

DTW-CHI - A
CHI-DTW - A
DTW-IND - A

Can I break the outbound like that? (I can't break the segments online) If that is not legal, can I simply stand by for what I want?

I'd like to simply fly to DTW from Indy but that's $680 compared to flying on to CHI. GRRRR!

Thanks.

Umm.... are you sure all of those segments are on ticket B?

For an IND--DTW--CHI--DTW--IND ticket to work with what you plan to do, make sure you schedule less than 4 hours between IND-DTW and DTW-CHI so DTW won't break the fare.

Am I understanding correctly what you want to do?? There may be an easier way for you to accomplish your goal-- are you looking for a certain # of segs and/or trying to go to DTW and back?

I asked CS about a similar situation. I was going from ORD to BIS and bought two tickets ORD-MSP (B class) and MSP-BIS (B class) on a second ticket. When the miles posted with only 1 on-line booking bonus I called CS. They told me that the computer figures out that I am actually doing a ORD-BIS and only gives credit for one of the tickets (B class). I was told that if I wanted to make changes there would be 2 change fees. I hope this answers your question.

Duh, I confused myself! The last three segments were ticket A. (I edited the message to correct this.)

I need two things...an IND-CHI roundtrip and a DTW-FNT roundtrip. The first is a Q fare and the second a B fare. Flying just to DTW from IND would be OK, but it's about $500 more than flying on to Chicago.

Soooo I want to fly the first leg to DTW on my way to CHI, but while in DTW do the roundtrip to FNT and then complete the CHI trip. Now have I totally confused you?

I'm thinking I'll make the CHI RT for late in the day and waitlist on an early flight to DTW from IND for the DTW-FNT trip.

d56auction:
Is it possible to stand-by for just one segment (IND-DTW)? I mean, you might be required to take an earlier DTW-CHI flight of your IND-CHI reservation, if NW enforces less than 4hr layover. Is it possible to fit in that DTW-FNT-DTW in that 4 hr. window?

Good question and one for which I don't have the answer. I presumed it would be too confusing for them to track.
