Milage Mania at even faster rate
My husband
, not me
, just got a letter today from NW saying he was pre-selected to earn Mileage Mania points at an even faster rate. NW automatically updated his account and enrolled him in this exclusive offer.
Don't know what he did to earn this. We travel on NW maybe 3-4 time a year, and have no special status.
Letter signed Beth Shultis, vice pres of marketing and loyalty programs. No phone number, just WP customer Service Center address.
The "extra" bonus points are about 30 t0 50 percent more for each qualifying activity. Some examples are:
Fly domestic main cabin was 50 now 75
fly trans-Atlantic main cabin was 70 now 100
purchase tickets at nwa.com and fly was 5 now 10
WorldPerks Visa was 30 now 60
fly domestic P/F/Y/B was 100 now 150
check in for flights was 5 now 10

Yeah, it's pretty strange. I got it but don't know why either...I'm Plat but would be a bit short of making it again.
Through this offer I'll be able to spend about $1200 and pick up 150,000 miles or around $.008 a mile, which I think is pretty good.

I just got one of these as well. No idea why either. I re-qualified for Gold about a month ago, and will easily hit Plat this year.
Last year about this time I got a promotion to bump one elite level for flying a certain number of flights before the end of the year. I wonder if it's just random.

Does anyone know if there is a way to see your current count online? I can keep count, I guess, but it would be nice if they allowed me to be lazy.

Which means that the turkey Z fares won't count for the gift card...

If you sign-up for Mileage Mania, can you still get the 'first time bonuses' (first nwa.com purchase 2000, first online checkin 1000, first kiosk checkin 1000)? I have my first NW flight coming up but then will probably not be flying them for a while so I'm trying to sign up for whatever promotions maximize points for a single flight. Thanks.

Do note that the checkin bonus is an either/or deal and not both.

I am not sure what exactly do you mean by 'either/or' deal. Per nwa.com, the two checkin bonuses ( i.e nwa.com & E-service) are combinable. T&C No. 3 says: "The two offers above are combinable if passenger meets qualifications of each offer individually". See details at:
http://www.nwa.com/features/ecomm2k.html
MRW, I don't think you need to register for this promotion. It is posted automatically.
