Volunteering
Okay folks I dont do this often so give me a quick refresh if you will.
I checked in on line today, and im almost to the point of printing out my boarding pass I get this window telling me this flight is oversold and blah blah!
Okay so contiune and print out the boarding pass, called NW and sure enough my direct flight is booked solid and well they are looking for volunteers. I for one hate sitting around the gate area, Love the worldclub. Can I just let the people in the worldclub know I will volunteer or what?
Also my routing is DTW SFO, direct and all direct flights today from DTW to SFO are oversold. SO wierd...
Thanks

You will have to go to the gate to have your name added to the bump list.
Tried your suggestion before. Doesn't work.

ernestb,
May I ask how much compensation you received for the bump (and whether or not they started out low and bid up)?
It would also be nice to enter the information into http://www.bumptracker.com/

ernestb,
you might want to consider editting your post and removing your number...
you did just post it to a public forum that doesn't really have any controls on who is reading it.

I met Ernest at the gate (I heard him say the magic word "volunteer" while watching for agents to start passing out coupons for the 3+ hour delayed flight tonight) and he got me into the WorldClub. I'm quite jealous, so far he's scored two bump vouchers for the two flights (plus a free meal).
Geez, some people turn getting bump vouchers into a winnable game. If only I had the patience and timing to do this.
Ernest is optimistic that he'll get another bump tonight but checking with the agent at the counter, looks like the 40 people overbooked have been cleared out.

Nicky first off all I wish I still lived in Scottsdale, I lived right off Via Linda!!! Oh well, yeah its not the smartest thing of leaving a number on here but hey its my cell phone, so its really no big deal. Yeah Im not happy about hanging out at the airport all day but hey I rather not be on a crabby packed flight, you should have seen the gates at for all flights going to SFO. It was a madhouse.
Im 99.9 sure that my seat will be needed and since Im number one on the list, Im sure to be bumped and reccomdated for the morning flight which Im already protected.
One good thing happened was meeting a FT, It was so wierd but its kewl, and Im glad I was able to extend him the worldclub privledges. AS IM not selfish by any means, I cant shoot arrows any straighter. Basically Im the no nonsense kinda guy. Today has been one heck of an adventure I never thought in the million years I would see people BI*** at the gate agents because the flight was oversold.
SO as it stands I have not one but TWO (2) vouchers.. Who wants to bet me that I will have a third? Not being greedy but I dont mind giving up my seat.
Its called Human Kindness
Be kind, be both!

Well I lost the bet, the oversold situation was not apparent and boarded the last late flight along with DJ. I must say I was tired so I slept most of the flight. Also if your suppose to have dinner on a flight you will get it regardless the time the flight leaves.. 705PM flight pushed at 11:23pm EST and we arrived at 0:45 PST so we did pretty good!
