echeck in problem

If you are getting an automatic upgrade, you can't use the e check in(and get the bonus). We tried last wednesday night and kept getting message that our reservation required contacting an agent. Called and found out we were getting upgrades, thus could not use the checkin. Our bonus went out the window.

Contact NW and let them know. There is a way to manually add the bonus miles.

Everytime I had a problem with echeck in, I always talked to the agent NEAR the echeck stations and told him I am having a problem could you please help me with the echeckin process, blah blah whatever the problem is (usually the machine says to contact an agent), they always take care of it AND I get the echeck in bonus miles, I am 3 out of 3 so far, waiting for my fourth one to post doing it this way.

FWIW

That seems strange, whenever I get EUA I never get a message like this.

Wait--WHAT?!--you've been getting MULTIPLE e-checkin bonuses?! The promo (if we're talking about the same one) is only supposed to be for the first such checkin--unless you're referring to some promo w/ which I am unfamiliar (but about which I would appreciate being informed).

we are not talking about the same promo I guess...I was just saying I always got any bonus miles (the regular 1000 miles) when I had that problem...the 3rd time it was during the latest promo and I am hoping to go 3 out of 3...

Hope that makes sense, it is bedtime

I usually get an automatic upgrade and have been using the Echeckin feature with no real problems. I usually use my ff number for checking in but it's been noted that this sometimes causes a problem. If you use your ff number and have problems, try again by using the record locator or the confirmation number. The one time I had a problem, I used the record locator and was able to continue. Unfortunately, I do think if you've been "selected" for one of the random checks, you probably won't be able to use the Echeckin feature.

If you're referring to the 1000 bonus miles online booking bonus, you should get that every time you book online, & regardless of whether you check-in online -- is this the bonus to which you're referring (I'm very curious to have that clarified/confirmed) - ?

Thanks...

Sorry for my state of confusion, I was mixing up the online booking bonuses and echeck in bonuses. I remember, in the past, NW offered these echeck in bonus miles periodically, I remember very well I got one (and I think I may have gotten another one, say early 2001 or late 2000)...until this happened to me again on Feb4th when the machine told me again to "contact an agent"...

I hope that clears it up, my fault.

No problem gpapdop--I was just freaking out, thinking I was missing out on some sort of terrific bonus mile offer (targetted or otherwise)... (whew!)

Yep, you're remembering correctly re: late 2000...ah, yes...I remember fondly the many miles garnered from online check-in bonuses that year...if memory serves, online check-in was one of NW's most successful product launches ever (which likely played into their discontinuing said check-in promo [so many bonus miles being given away, presumably]).

Its temporary resurgence late last year, & then again this year, was welcome, indeed (even if only allowed one time each).

Couldn't resist...I dug up the following from the archives:
On December 1, 2000, Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC - news) became the largest airline in the world to offer its customers the unprecedented convenience and speed of Internet check-in throughout its entire domestic system. In the first week of January 2001, Northwest issued its 100,000th boarding pass delivered via the Internet, making Internet check-in the fastest adopted product in Northwest history.

Not a problem @ all, gpapadop...
