Internet Check in question

Can I check in online if there're 3 connections? Thanks.

"Does it matter if I have connecting flights?

No, provided you do not have more than two connections. You will receive and need to print on a separate piece of paper, the boarding passes for each of your flights. "

I see. Then I probably have to check in at the airport. They should allow me to check in online for the first 2 flights first and then do it again for the last 2 flights. I guess having more than 2 connections is rare for a NW domestic itinerary.

It said my itinerary didn't allow me to use the .com check in. I guess it's because of the 3 connections.

nlp,

You are correct! Just yesterday I ran into the same exact problem. I tried to checkin for my Sunday flights (on Saturday) and got the same error...I was going to be making a 5-segment-same-day mileage run.

I called and spoke with BOTH the Worldperks Gold Elite line and the internet support line. They told me that because I was:

1. Flying nowhere in particular and not staying anywhere overnight.

2. Flying more than two consecutive segments.

...that I could not use online checkin!!! Seems like a crock to me, just because my itinerary is not "standard issue" should not mean that I am penalized for doing so.

Anyways, I used the online TALK TO US feedback mechanism and wrote Emails to both the NWA.Com Internet Checkin Service and Worldperks Customer Support. I got an Email back today stating that they will be crediting my account with the one-time expected 2,000 mile bonus for online checkin. At least they owned up to the problem and took appropriate actions.

Maybe now they will work on getting that bit of online rpgoramming fixed... :0

Thank you E. Actually mine is not a mileage run. The problem is the segment MEM-SEA was so costly that I decided to book it through DTW. It's going to take the same time if I fly MEM-DTW-SEA or MEM-MKE-DTW-SEA and so I chose the second one (just to see MKE airport that I never visited). Including the flight from my hometown to MEM, there are 4 flights (3 connections).

Yeah...even though yours is NOT a mileage run, it falls under the goofy rules I stated above, and that is why your itinerary keeps "crashing" like mine did.

Maybe send an Email to suctomer support like I did?

I don't think that will help much but I will send one. They stated clearly that it must not have more than 2 connections. It's rare to have 3 connections or more when travelling within the US.
