DCA-MEM Service delayed again?

After 9/11 service between MEM and DCA was dropped. Around the middle of November flights were loaded into the schedule for DCA-MEM service to start on December 17th. On Dec 3 I bought a ticket to travel from DCA to LAX leaving on Jan 2 and returning on Jan 14 with a connection in MEM. I just signed on to check some details connected with this flight and noticed my seat assignments had evaporated and that the itinerary link for this reservation was broken on the web page. I gave the Platinum Elite line a call and the agent checked with the scheduling people and found out that plans have slipped and the DCA-MEM flights are now scheduled to resume in mid-January.

So if you purchased tickets recently from DCA to anywhere with a MEM connection, you might want to give NW a call and see what is going on and start thinking about alternative arrangements from Dulles or another carrier.

Anyone else know more about this situation?

This is a fact of life. You'll be changing planes somewhere - just like the rest of us. It is not really a big deal, quite frankly. Check out fares and non-stops into BWI as well, both Dulles and BWI are about equal distances from downtown Washington....

Web Traveler, my intent was to alert folks that had bought DCA-MEM flights for travel between Dec 17 and Jan 15 that even though they are ticketed and may THINK they have a reservation, these flights have been dropped. My post was to give a "heads up" to these folks that they may want to think about alternative travel plans. I don't think NW has contacted anyone about dropping these flights and may not do so until the last minute when other flights may be fully booked due to holiday travel.

Of course we all do connections. My flight to MEM is a connection on my way to LAX. I prefer NW to UAL and AA so this was my way to get to LAX. If I take the extra 1 to 2 hours to get to IAD or BWI, then there are plenty of non-stops to LAX, but they aren't on NW, my preferred carrier.
