2002 Plan

So as a fairly new member of the Northwest Elite circle, I have realized its benefits and have no desire to lose them after '02. Do any of you have any tips from the seasoned vets for getting the 75k next year?
Personally, I get the majority of miles from CLE-SEA. I know I have two vacations next year (SEA-KUL, MNL) and one in Jan. (ORD-CDG). I'd like to rack up some extra miles as well. Thanks.

Try:
1. Round The World ticket.
2. Asia trip with ticket from Chinese TA, 18,000 miles round trip for $500 usually.

MoreMiles (or anyone else):

Could you please elaborate on the Asia trip for @ $500? From where to where? Best travel time for dollars? etc. I am also looking to keep my silver after next year and will be looking at the most miles for the best buck.

Thanks,

Gwen

raincityrd,

What carrier do you take to KUL specifically?
I know NW had cancelled the KIX-KUL route, so, I'm just wondering what other airline that flies into KUL that would earn NW credited flight miles.

Thanks.

Have to change in SIN It's okay, the vacation is in March and I'm sure we could spend a day or two shopping in Singapore. Actually, we may go JHB-KUL (Johore Bahru) if it's cheaper.

All along, I do know WP members can earn miles on all MH operated flights, but I believe they still would only appear as bonus miles instead of credited flight miles (elite status miles)....unless there has been a change recently.

Miles earned from Malaysia Airlines flights are not elite qualifying, unless they are booked under the Northwest code (NW). All Northwest Airlines (NW) designated flights earn miles which qualify for elite status.

Weird thing is I have yet to see any KUL-bound MH-operated flights with NW code.
I've searched nwa.com, Travelocity and Expedia, but to no avail.
I was planning to visit KUL but the closest that NW would fly into is SIN. Hmmm...what kind of codeshare do they have? I suppose NW utilizes more of MH services from KUL to Australia or New Zealand.
