Which Seat?
Next month I am flying on the NW18 from HKG to JFK. I have bought the cheapest tickets going at about $270. Where is the best place for me to try and get seated?
I have never flown NW before so am not quite sure what to expect. I have no status with them or KLM. I do have Emerald OW status if that hepls? Probably not.
Many Thanks in advance

$270? wow... that's a great deal. How'd you find it?
Try try try to get some kind of exit row or bulkhead seat. You'll get some more space that way.

The offers currently out of Hong Kong are amazing on all airlines (especially US carriers)
NW Business return if used before end of Christmas is going for HKD$11,800. I am tempted to splash out.

Crap, I can't get deals like that when looking in December or February via nwa.com.
HKG to SFO is $1,200 or so USD.
Where'd you book it?

The price is quoted from one of the larger flight shops in Hong Kong. It is called Aero International Ltd, +852 2543 3800.
Their website is www.aerohkg.com.
You maybe right in their price being'crap!'. I am just going on what I have been told.

How did you deal with www.aerohkg.com? Just over the web or via phone? Have you dealt with them a number of times in the past, or was this a first time?
I'm just curious how confident people are with using out-of-the-country travel agencies (I'm assuming you're physically in England right now? or maybe in Hong Kong since you just "picked up your ticket").
As for assigning those seats, I guess you'll have to try to score them the day of flight (I'd say try 24 hours before the flight and then if that doesn't work, try to get 'em assigned just over that 3 hour window).

Although we do not use them for our corporate travel, a lot of us use them for going home etc. I spend 50/50 in HK and UK.
They are very good and seem to get some great deals. They have a sister office in Bangkok which is also great for getting cheap rtw fares

Exit row and bulkhead seats are only preassigned if you are an elite member otherwise you can request them at airport checkin on day of departure.
