NWA Completion of Flight Deck Security Enhancements; Fleet Now Equipped With New Flight Deck Door Security Devices
NWA today announced that it has completed the installation of new flight deck door security devices on its fleet of aircraft ahead of schedule. With the installation of a device on a Boeing 747-400 aircraft at New York's JFK Airport earlier today, Northwest's mechanics completed the door enhancement program in 17 days.
``The installation of flight deck security enhancements across the entire Northwest fleet is yet another example of the many measures being put into place to increase security for the traveling public and our own employees,'' said Ken Hylander, vice president - safety and engineering and chief safety officer. ``Northwest employees worked around the clock to install these critical safety measures in record time. Their professionalism further demonstrates that the security of our customers is the top priority of each and every employee of Northwest Airlines.''
