so close...
After this weekend I will have 74817 flight miles with NW...Next weekend I am doing an open jaw trip to BKK stopping in LA for three days, question is: I will be Plat after LAX, will I be considered Platinum (and earn Plat bonus miles)after LA for the Bangkok trip...? If not, short of doing a quick mileage run to MEM between now and next weekend, does anyone have any suggestions...?

Check out www.nwa.com under Worldperks. There is a promotion going on about using certain (non-airline) partners for Elite qualification.

By doing the math, you should be a Plat by the time you complete your segment to LAX, so yes - you will be earning 125% bonus for your LAX -> BKK segment and beyond.

Congrats to you!

Agents told me that the computer scans for new elites on the weekends . . . at least that was last year. You could call up the Gold WP and ask specifically and get some documentation.
So my advice is: depends on how badly you want it and how much it means to do you. If I were in your shoes, I'd do a quick (and cheap) mileage run just to make sure. NWA.com is offering 2,500 bonus miles for booking online (5,000 bonus miles for first-timers).
If you're flying WBC, don't forget to enroll in the 10,000 WBC bonus miles promotion.

Glanced at AirOutlet.com (they only require a 5-day advance), but they only serve CVG from BTR...
