Worldperks

I just recently (6months ago) switched preferred airline to Northwest. In using the Worldperks, do you find them responsive to requests and letters? I came from American, as a gold member and ran up like 20,000 flown miles from Sept to the end of the year on NWA. I wrote them a letter detailing my change and asked if I could be upgraded to next level of their program on a trial baes (all other airlines do this). Since I only missed the target mileage by such a small amount and with my change in loyalty, and my extensive travel plans for the year. They did not even acknowledge the letter. I am wondering how they treat their preferred customers?

You might want to wait a little while longer before complaining about the bump to elite level. The next year's(March 1, 2001 to Feb 28, 2002) elite packages have not gone out yet. You may still get this coming year's elite level.

I originally started flying Northwest seriously back a few years ago when, in response to a letter I sent them, they comp'ed me to Gold status based on my travel volume with another airline and my commitment to fly enough to qualify on my own for the following year. At the time, Gold was their only 'elite' level.

I would suggest that you re-send your letter. Be specific on what you want and what you plan to do in return for their granting you elite status. It's a two way street. Be sure you enclose copies of any verifying credentials that substantiate your current flight activity and include your phone number as well as your mailing address.

Good luck!

I would agree with Swaggie. It took me about a month last August to receive the comp to Gold from Northwest, but the actual notification letter came a month after that.

If you have your Northwest Worldperks number, check your mileage balance on the website. It's possible they've granted your request but haven't gotten around to notifying you yet.

I too am waiting for a reply to a request to keep my Gold comp since I "started so late" and didn't have that much time 4 months to re-earn it.
