Mac users--do you hate nwa.com?

the site behaves badly using MS IE 5 and Netscape 4.6 on a Mac. all Macs I've tried at least. it all works, but terribly slowly. with IE there's a 5-10-30 second stall with the spinning beachball cursor whenever a new page is accessed (you can see it, but you can't do anything). with NN there's a terrific level of hard disk thrash for about the same period of time before you regain control. you can't do anything during these stalls.

also most of the time when you click the 'back' button after doing a flight search, you end up at the 'please wait, searching for flights' screen with the big logo, which ends up looping you back to the flight choices.

my computer is old but it's got a G3 card in it so processing speed shouldn't be an issue. everything works nicely with MSIE 5 on Windows. you'd think NW would bother to test their web site on more than one platform.

grrr. it can't just be me... or can it?

Have you done a clean System install lately? Your computer really shouldn't be that slow with a G3 card installed.

FWIW, my Mac accesses the NW site just fine.

Actually, now that you mentioned it, I've always thought that nwa.com doesn't run well on AOL either. The drop down menus on the start page don't work for me, and the WP PIN# mememory part never seems to work either. I'm using an old performa with a G3 card. But...like everything else regarding AOL, you take the good with the bad.

hmm.... well, maybe it is just me. I've not done a "clean" OS install in probably five years! it's a 7500 with a 300MHz G3 card, now running OS 9 which I installed over 8.6 a few weeks ago. other than glacial nwa.com performance everything else is fine so I don't think I want to go through the trauma of a clean install. that's pretty much an all-day affair what with restoring extensions and preferences. I'm not sure why browser performance could be linked to the state of the OS nor why it only happens with nwa.com ... oh well, at least it's not Windoze
