complaining online

I'm writing a magazine story on the value of complaining online - has anyone out there used an airline web site to register a complaint? If so, what was the result? Or have you tried the US Dept of Transportation site and has that been any help.

The article is for Expedia Travels magazine (a Ziff-Davis pub, not the same as the Expedia site).

PS: About 2 years ago I posted to this board and started a conversation with Rudi Martel that led to the following story about how Rudi uses his FF miles: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...TRAVEL4298.dtl

Anyone who wants to contact me directly and/or anonymously can write to:
[email protected] - thanks all, -Michael

Was it really necessary to cross post this in several forums.

I agree! One post in the buzz would have probably been quite sufficient. I think it's cool that the media looks to some of the great folks (and BTW, I don't consider myself one of those great folks ) here but just like in any other community, its nice when they are a bit respectul.

I haven't seen such cross posting in my time here at FT - EVER!

An apology: with 20-20 hindsight, and several comments from the members of this community, I realize that I overdid it by posting to several boards and I'm sorry.

My intention was to give those who might only read one board the chance to reply and have their experience included in my story. I didn't mean to offend people by posting to various boards and had no idea that so many webflyer members frequently read many of these boards.

By the way, it did turn out to be useful to cross post, because lots of people who hadn't seen my original singular post in Buzz did see it in some of the other forums I posted to later. But I won't cross post again because I can see that it wasn't appreciated. Best for the new year...
