Special service codes

After volunteering on a couple of flights, I started noticing the FQTV, VLTR, and CORP designatins under special service (also premium on some). Can anyone provide some insight to how these codes are used?

I had "premium" on a boarding pass last weekend. The gate agent didn't know what it meant, said it just shows up sometime. I would guess there's more to it. I'm not an elite, BTW.

We are CO Elites and Premium has shown up on our NW boarding passes whenever we are upgraded (probably about two dozen segments since the alliance).
It did not show the time we were forced to ride in back.
I don't know what FQTV means, but it only shows on direct flights or on the first leg of a connecting itinerary. In that case, any following segments will say "Connection" in that same area of the boarding pass.

I believe PREMIUM means that you are eligible for seat pre-selection in the "Premium Seating" area (usually rows 5-7). You get it if you are Elite or on a Y fare (and sometimes if you change your flight and the agent gives you a new record rather than spend the time to go in and modify your existing one).

FQTV means nothing in particular. As noted, it appears if you are on the first leg of a connecting itinerary and are claiming WP miles.

VLTR means volunteer for reaccomodation. It is usually accompanied by two numbers (eg. 1/4) so that a gate agent can quickly track the number in your party volunteering and your priority number for bumping.

CORP and EBPK are for travellers using corporate accounts or E-Biz Perks accounts to book their flight.

A couple of clarifications to B747-437B's post:

1. "Premium" shows up for all First Class, Elite, and full-fare Y customers. It does not necessarily correspond to access to Select Seating.

2. FQTV appears if you are earning FF miles period--whether in WP, OP, FD, or something else.
