Segments?

I noticed that NWA does not recognize segments as mean of earing elite levels, unlike CO, where 30 segs will get you Silver. I fly short haul and medium haul alot and my question is, if NWA does not do Segments, is it better for me to use CO's OP?

Thanks.

IF u go with CO then u will be under the OP rules. NO automated upgrades, no upgrading on award tickets, no 1,000 mile bonus for booking NW travel if u travel on NW mostly, and no e-ticket kiosk use if u are a CO elite and travel on NW mostly. You will lose a little but u may gain with OP it is all up to what are seeking.

I didn't know you can get upgraded on the reward ticket. Is it true for any Elite level?

"No e-ticket kiosk"
I use CO's e-ticket service stations all the time, I mostly fly out of IAH, reason I used NWA so much is that I try to get upgrades and free tkts to Asia, since NWA is the only major airline that is going to Asia with decent time because of the quick flight from DTW-PEK, not SFO or LAX, I hate connecting to the west-coast.
Now, I am having second thoughts because of this segment thing.

thanks all

Al

If you fly short hops - or make connections wherever you fly - CO is by far superior to NW. Attaining Elite status via segments is within easy reach v. miles. I fly NW 90% of the time but always use my CO OP when flying.

With codeshare, sometimes you can fly NW all the way but on CO flight numbers. Booking online earns 1000 miles - can you book CO online, fly NW and receive the 1000 miles?

Comment was made you can't get automatic upgrades. If you don't qualify for Elite, you ain't gonna get them anyway.

Check out my earlier posting on this topic - according to MJW NW gives elite status for segments annually. They don't have mid-year upgrades (still).
