Miss-read the post. I would guess Plat = 3-6% Gold = 10-12% Silver = 20-30% Just a guess..

Your percentages work out to a total of 33% to 48% of all NW fliers being elite.

I would guess that systemwide, this is on the high side. While it would be higher in hub cities, I cannot imagine nearly half of all passengers having elite status.

It's a special formula Scoopy once told me... the number of Plats is equal to the sum of the number of planes in the air at 11:30am on a specific monday in the month of march * the inverse tangent of the cube root of the gallons of fuel used on flight NW69 that day divided by the # of OLCI... or maybe not

Therefore the Platinum percentage is 3.14159265 - or might that be "pi in the sky?"

You forgot to say that this formula was derived from the game Fizbin, as described in the Original Star Trek episode A Piece of the Action.

It's a closely held secret; none of the major airlines will tell you.

Rule of thumb is 10% are Silvers, 10% of those are Golds, and 10% of those are Plats. I suspect the rule of thumb comes in a bit low for Golds and Plats.
