New aircraft, which ones and when?

There are often comments here about the new aircraft that NWA will be recieveing. Does anyone have a actual count/type of aircraft? Does anyone have any idea of the timeline and types of aircraft?

Airbus has a clear excel list on how many deliveries are still outstanding for NW on their website.

You could check wikipedia. It shows which AC's are on order. To cut this short: NW has the Boeing 787-8, the Airbus A319, A320-200, and A330-300 on order.

Chrz!

http://www.airbus.com/en/corporate/o...nd_deliveries/

5 A319, 2 A320 and 13 A330 are left to be delivered. All A332s are delivered.

It would be interesting to see the Embraer orders, but can't find that info...

From what I gather, the 7 new 320/319 will replace some of the DC-9s. How many of the 320s/319s are parked in AZ right now? The number can not be anywhere close to the number of DC-9s. I guess that means that the number of E-170s had better be really large to make up the difference.

Unfortunately the number of ERJ's and CRJ's is large enough.

I have no info on when these new AC's arrive and when they are operational. I am looking foreward to the new A330-300's. I hope NW will replace the 744's with A380's or B747-8i for the pacific routes. These AC's are fine but they are showing their age.

Chrz!

NW only has N302NB (A319) and N302US (A320) parked in Marana. The rest (10 A319) were sold to S7 last year as part of BK.

The complete fleet (except the DC9) numbers:

NW is not buying anything to replace the 744s. The aircraft in operation are good for another 10-12 years and most of the traffic on the Transpac hub routes will be reduced by direct hub to asia flights by the 787.

Now thats ALOT of extra lift NWA will be taking in the next year, in addition to the 787's

The info regarding 13 A333 deliveries does not seem right. The http://ir.nwa.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=111021&p=irol-fleet says 21 A333s and 11 A332s. There are 16 A333s in the system already. And I think all A332s have been delivered (or maybe one still left to be delivered?). That would leave 5x A333 deliveries. That's not that much extra lift considering all B742s are being retired.

Even five more A333s is a lot given that I think there is already extra capacity. Look at it this way: NW has received something like 4 additional A333s in the last 12 months without a corresponding increase in routes (DC-10 conversion already accounted for, except for maybe MSP-HNL).

Now you add five more frames. You convert the handful of remaining 742 routes, and you still have some A333s left over. At the same time, you add 757 service to Europe, eliminating some obvious A333 choices.

What does that leave? Where will the new aircraft go, especially with significant 787 deliveries starting in a year. I assume they have a plan, but like a Ron Moore script, I can't figure it out.

Those 3 A333s will take over B742s' routes plus (I'm guessing here) DTW-MAD and DTW-FCO. B752 is an old capacity reassigned to where it might generate more profits. B787 is the extra lift. I'm thinking initially deployed to overfly NRT (for a TPAC route one needs 2 aircraft if not more in some cases). Later when they exercise 50 options to open new TATL markets like US-India/Russia, Middle East and maybe South America too...

Have you been on an E-170? Very comfy in Y, and then there's the F cabin. Remember the new CRJs will have large F cabins as well.

6 seats in F. Nice seats in both Y and F at least the way that DL has it configured.

NW is configuring theirs with 12 seats in F, on both the CRJ-705 and the EMB-170.
