We've been over this. UA has more seats across the water, period. UA also has a lesser C product than NW. Unfortunately you can't have the best of programs. Take the good and the bad from each program.

Moving on...

you always say this. Its hypocrytical. UAs C class is just as good as FC in the dc-10s that you RAVE about. You also always leave out the fact that UA has another cabin in front of C thats equal or better than NWs wbc

Words in my mouth. When do I RAVE about FC in the DC-10s? I've only been in them twice!

Yes, but to get to UA F, you need to be on a paid C ticket to use the precious SWUs. The only way to compare apples-to-apples is to do Coach->Business upgrades.

Unfortunately NW does not have a 3-cabin system or nearly as many seats as UA. But NW competes very well, if not better when put head-to-head with the same C cabin on another airline.

Here we go again... Schmutzig vs rwill, Round N.

Seriously, you could book award tickets. UA's F to Asia costs same as NW's WBC: 120,000 miles.

That also costs 4x the amount of NWA's J cabin.

Looks like NW wins this one.........Unless you get a $950 W fare and use a swu up to C and eat the same filet mignon as F

No. I don't think that NW wins necessarily.

UA is selling a worse product at a higher price.

In fact, thezipper and I both noticed that UA's C costs more than NW's WBC on the China routes. A sign of NW's losing premium pax, perhaps.

Im telling ya. buying a Z fare is cheaper than flying an extra 85k to get some swu's. You only need 100k for top tier status on UA or AA and you get 6 or 8 swu's EDIT For example I just looked at DTW_AMS 1oct-8oct
Z fare was 2631 lowest fare was 1033, so 2 swu's are worth $800 bucks each on that flight. When you add in how much it costs to get to the point of getting 2 swu's they are basically not cost affective.
From what I read, these SWUs book into C.

Lowest coach fare on NW, DTW-DEL for a date I'm traveling this summer- 1773.20

Z fare- not available

C fare- 7180

money saved- 5406

DTW-NRT flight I have booked

lowest coach fare (direct flight) - 1260

Lowest Z fare- not available

lowest C fare- 8950

money saved- $7700

total money I would have saved- $13000

I did my math correctly.
