Flexible "Trick"?

I was just able to book two tickets LGA-SFO for early June for $230, all inclusive.

What's interesting is that if you do the basic search, the lowest fare shown is $320.

If you go to "More Search Options" and click on "My Dates are Flexible," it pulls up the lower fare. Hey, I'm not complaining!

I always choose this option, and go three days before and after each date. Saving money never hurts.

Flexible Search

While I tend to use the Flexible Search function as my first choice I never trust it completely. Often "flights not available" ain't true. You can check those dates and sure enough there are fares. Also I have found that if you search the particular date you may see particularly, the fares may be lower for the specific dates. Inconsistent as h...

The advantage I've found, especially for someone living in a hub city, is that my dates are flexible gives you very long and strange routings. For MSP - MCI, I can go MSP-CLT-DTW-MCI for about $250. Or I can go MSP-MCI for about $550. When I do a regular search on my dates, multiple connections, strange routings, and cheapest prices do not show up. I've yet to book one of these, but it seems like an easy way to get work done without interruptions - better than the office! And a decent alternative to a self funded MR!

I always use ITA to check the cheapest flight and dates before I look for them on NWA's website.
