Agreed! Seriously, who cares what the cards look like. What is important is what the cards deliver!

Apparently some WP members show old elite cards from '04, '05 program years and demand elite benefits. By changing the cards frontline employees that deal with pa can easily see if the card is from the current program year or an expired card. I think this is a much for NW (internal use) as it is for WP members.

Platinum Points.

As evidenced by at least one newbie plat (me) saying "Huh?" when someone (Radiocycle, maybe?) mentioned plat points at the DC-10 retirement pre-DO. And people having to explain that the information is buried somewhere deep within NWA.com (I looked just now and couldn't even find it - wound up resorting to Google!) and that anyway, that promotion was pretty much just for people that bought high-fare tickets, and the rewards weren't very exciting anyway, so buy-K-and-upgrade folks like me wouldn't care about it. :)

This probably means NW will publish that Plats get EUA'd at the 6 day window now :)

As for DL reciprocal EUA's, I vote HELL NO!!! Even as a plat, I don't want it. I'm sure as a silver on either airline and probably gold, you'd be saying no, too. Anyone fly on the new 757 that DL is using which has 7 rows of FC? Those seats have less leg room than NW coach!

Now I understand ... you mean the new cards are "exciting" for the airline and its staff as they can now catch elite wannabes ;)

I don't see how this is of use to me as I never carry my WP card and I don't plan to start carrying it just because it is shinier

I think we'll get DL upgrades, and if you fly in the back, you'll no longer get the 1000 miles, but a free Smart Snack. :D

I'm *really* hoping for an SWU type upgrade cert.

I always use it for kiosk check-in. I don't feel like unnecessarily swiping my driver's license or credit card with all the ways out there for identity theft, not to mention simply losing the card each time it is removed. I'd rather lose my elite card than my driver's license or a credit card. Plus, sometimes when traveling internationally, counter agents or gate agents need to see the plastic for whatever reason to prove that I should be in the first class elite line or security line, that I should be eligible for WC access, etc.

So how would a newly designed card make any difference?

It makes you feel better as you waive it around in the check-in line to everyone else around you. ;)

Thanks Slippahs!!!! We will be in Hawaii (Oahu and Kauai) in April. It's our ABSOLUTE favorite destination.

With a PK061, I was able to book a ticket today for under $500!

I have found during the interrogations in AMS and SIN that having that card helps...Especially during mileage runs.

I heard that the new enhancement was the person with the most EQM's for the current year will get to use the jump seat in the cockpit during the flight!;)
