WP AS upgrade cert: it worked, first time ever

First, let me wish all redtail fliers and crews a happy new year.

For the first time ever a WP AS upgrade cert worked for me this morning SAN-SEA (73G). I've flown 15 or 20 AS sectors over the last few years and I've never had luck with a cert before. The remaining F seats were then sold for $50 at the gate. Not a bad deal for an 1100 mile sector.

On the way to OGG then HNL and the D10 retirement DO.

That's slightly better than the average I've had using my AS WP upgrades on NW flights. Always a great surprise when it happens, but I've learned (long ago) not to be disappointed 'cuz usually it doesn't.

BOB W, sure, today was a pleasant surprise. I value the limited NW/AS reciprocity situation, as little as I fly AS. For me this is much better than DL connection (no u/g and RJ metal) or UA Express (no u/g and no miles and RJ metal). Anyway I prefer to keep it like it is rather than opening all NW F inventory to AS MVPs. I'm sure some AS MVPs probably also like the arrangement for the same reason

I've had a 100 percent success rate with AS certs. Routes include DCA-SEA, SEA-DCA, SEA-LAX, LAX-SEA, SEA-SNA and SNA-SEA. Now, when I fly carriers where I do not have elite status, I tend to book close to the last minute since there's no benefit to booking earlier. So, many of these tickets were full Y fares where I can upgrade in advance using the certs.

By the way, if any Platinums out there have any spare AS certs (they are transferable), I could use a few more as I am almost out.

I've got my full allotment left. My only AS flight last month, I forgot to bring them!

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining as I understand how the inventory is alotted. NW F,when I've been up front was very nice, but it's been a while. They are #2 on my list of airlines I WANT to fly. AS is #1.
