I hope that's not the "new and exciting features" we've been waiting for -- everybody starting over as base member would certainly be "exciting" :)

So, if 2006 is any indication, you'll have to wait a few weeks to see what NW will do with any soft landings. Most of which will be based on what the elite ranks look like once the dust of 2006 has settled.

Still OK for 2007 Plat

Just checked my account summary and it still shows 101 segments and Plat through February 2008.

My 2007-2008 status disappeared too, even though I've got enough 2006 EQM showing up that I'm obviously plat (and am still waiting for another ~4500 miles to post from partner flights). Oh well, I'll let 'em sort it out. ;)

cmdinnyc Jan 4, 2007 6:46 pm

Before it disappeared, mine said "Gold Elite" with 74,559 posted to my account. Fortunately, I have an IAH-EWR segment on CO from 29-Dec that hasn't posted due to the bump I took that led me to fly standby. I sent my boarding passes in a day or so ago, so I should be good once they post the miles.

DESMOINESguy Jan 4, 2007 8:04 pm

My plat status for 2007 disappeared also, was there yesterday. What gives?

N751PR Jan 4, 2007 11:27 pm

Back to being a Base Member once March 1 rolls around. Shouldn't be too hard to get back to SE as I'll be sitting on at least 21,207 EQMs by then. ^

sllevin Jan 5, 2007 12:14 am

Right now I've still got just the (to) Feb 2007 PE showing...nothing else.

Not sure if I'll get the soft landing...but with 0 EQM, I'm guessing not.

Soft Landing Does Exist!

Account Status: 01Mar2006-28Feb2007 Platinum Elite

2007 Elite Qualifying Segments 0
2006 Elite Qualifying Segments 10

At first NWA.com indicated that I would fall from Plat. to dirt. However, when I checked today it says that I will only drop to SE. Not bad for only 13k miles and 10 segments. Thanks NWA!

kb1992 Jan 5, 2007 11:30 am

soft landing to Silver but no Gold

Okay, today I just noticed this on my WP summary:

01Mar2006-28Feb2007 Platinum Elite

01Mar2007-29Feb2008 Silver Elite

Some soft landing. ;) ;)

kb1992 Jan 5, 2007 11:32 am

BTW I only had 6,600 EQMs and 8 EQSs in 2006.

Not bad. :D :D

NW made me plat even though I'm officially only at 74,559 for the year. I'll take it, even if I still have a flight segment from 2006 yet to post.

TheMadBrewer Jan 5, 2007 12:45 pm

Not I. Still PE to SE, though I've already booked several trips on NW for '07. Probably will be Base in '08, since I plan to only credit my NW account as long as I'm Plat and put the rest on AS.

Perhaps I'll change my tune when NW finally comes out of bankruptcy. Hey, they're buying Mesaba. Can't be all bad.

mplsmdflyer Jan 5, 2007 9:29 pm

Soft landing noted as well. Possibly universal for all PE that would have gone to base level as I took only 2 flights for a total of 3459 miles. ;)

LOTS of flying on DL, hence the low segment count.

No soft landing here. After 5 consecutive years of PE loyalty I moved my flying to UA/AA. More than 75% of the NWA EQM was on CO (H/K)

Purposefully flew less on NWA due to mind-numbing boredom on Y-class transpac flights and wretched arrival times in HKG & PVG. (not to mention the mandatory doe-see-doe at NRT)

Ooh! Ooh! Can we please add CAN, where NWA arrives after all connecting flights have left at night, and leaves in the morning before any connecting flights have arrived, to that list? It's weird to have a favorite hotel, where I've stayed multiple times, in a city that's never even been a destination for me. :D

I checked last week and I went from Platinum to Base Member...checked today and it now shows that I'm Silver for 07...mute point, since I will be platinum by 3/1, but still it's interesting that they gave me some status for this year. (flew less that 25k on paid tickets in 2006, blew through alot of miles on award tickets)

oh, the forum is going to hate me for this, but NW ended up soft landing me to SE even with 0 EQMs and nothing booked for 2007

you are not a threat to others since you don't plan to fly NW and your SE is useless.;) ;)

KeyManRisk Jan 8, 2007 9:32 pm

yeah, but it's still elite dilution. fortunately (?) for all, UA has got my wallet now.

:) I plan on probably 0 EQMs for the rest of the year. Doing LCCs and Amtrak for domestic trips, buying J class tickets (cheaper than NW) across the ocean, and burning my 300,000 miles on my parents for their WBC trip to Asian using Gold/Platinum preferred availability. I'm ditching the golden handcuffs.

I'm extremely angry about the limited availability of WBC seats throughout the year for base members. Their international upgrade "awards" are a joke, as I can just pay a few hundred dollars more than an upgradeable fare for a business class ticket from a consolidator.

Another soft landing here

Despite crediting zero miles to WorldPerks last year (all went to Continental status), dropped from Plat to Silver for next year.

Nice to know they are doing soft landing but since I'm CO Plat now, won't do me much good.
