Ticketing Delay
Hola,
I made a reservation the evening of 9/18 on NWA.com and received a valid reservation number. I checked my reservation online just now, and it still has not been ticketed. I called NW and they said their "ticketing department" is behind. I never knew there was an actual "ticketing department" and that it takes almost 24 hours for a reservation made on NWA.com to actually get ticketed! ...?
Has anyone experienced a recent delay in ticketing? I've heard of delayed flights, but come on now!

Did you use an ecert, ECV, or some other type of discount? I seems to take longer to ticket reservations involving those...

I had this happen recently, and I didn't use any type of discount. I booked it the same way I book my weekly business travel. I wondered why my upgrade on a B fare had not cleared, so I called the elite line, and they saw the problem. After being on hold for about ten minutes they were able to ticket, and then my upgrade cleared.

Well . . . I used a $300.00 ECV and paid about $350.00 via AMEX. Routing is:
EWR-DET-LGW (outbound)
LGW-MSP-LAX (return).
EWR-DET-LGW (outbound)
LGW-MSP-LAX (return).

I had a ticketing delay due to a phone number I typo'ed.
It took a few calls and a good agent to dig into the issue and figure it out. She ticketed it in minutes. Most agents will try to blow off such an issue, though.

I had a 5-6 day delay on ticketing for a flight (LAX-NRT-ICN-SIN, last leg on KE) recently. I figure it was the KE segment holding it up.
I called the Plat line once or twice as I was waiting for it to ticket to upgrade the first 2 segments from Y to Z (needed a "coach" receipt for reimbursement). I was told it was in the queue and the reps then put it in the priority queue which means it should be done within the day. First time, no go. Second time it ticketed quickly. Of course the upgrade was gone by that time...

I felt kind of bad calling and asking them to ticket the reservation right away, but I was trying to upgrade using Continental OnePass Miles. In any case, I took Channa's advice and called NW reservations. They ticketed my reservation in literally 20 seconds. ^

It's been 3 and a half weeks since I made an award res, and they still have not ticketed it yet. I'm told it's in the queue.

A few of the only times you need to press for ticketing is (1) prior to traveling (else you'll have problems checking in) and (2) when trying to process a mileage upgrade not made with the original ticketing (though, the agent will call the ticketing desk and have them push the ticket through).

I know agents could add some notation to push your reservation for "IMMEDIATE TICKETING" (the official name I learned from the agents). I had two lovely agents do this for me in the past few weeks due to the special requirement of award tickets on CZ (must be ticketed within 24 hours when reservation is confirmed). Otherwise, your ticket will join in the long queue for them to be ticketed. You can always request immediate ticketing with proper reasons. One of my friends just did it because he is leaving next week, although the award ticket is for late December.
Otherwise, you can always go to the airport to get it done within minutes or hours if it is award ticket to be reissued
----Last time I felt guilty being with the poor agent for 100 minutes to reissue a paper award ticket in BWI.

For the DC-10 retirement flights, it took them several weeks to reissue the tickets for our move to first.
Earlier this year, I had to have a return from LJU-PRG-AMS-DTW-MSP changed because schedule changes left us with an impossible connection in DTW. I was really impressed with the PE line (I was travelling when I noticed it, they said they'd take care of it & didn't keep me hanging around on the phone while they were banging keys). Discovered on the return thru AMS that although my reservation showed the correct flight, I was still ticketed for a flight that no longer existed. KLM ended up reissuing the ticket at their transfer desk.
