Dtw-bos

we all know nwa has the reputation of being the most brutal when a competing airline tries to enter their turf. this again happened recently with spirit and bos. spirit set fares at 149 round trip nwa countered with a 98 roundtrip fare, then spirit matched. that has been the fare for the past month for k class, yesterday nwa withdrew the fare leaving its lowest at 278, while spirt has kept the 98. sprit does not start to fly the route until late aug. whats going on here, this is a first nwa not defending a prime route, this sure goes against their conventional competition strategy, any thoughts or explanations

I think you hit the nail on the head with that statement. NW has no reason to be cheap on the route until Spirit is actually flying it.
