Question about Codeshare and EQM
I apologize in advance if this question has been asked. I am traveling to Cancun in June for a one week vacation and the NWA package is not only expensive, but flight schedule simply endless (seven hours to travel 1300 miles)given no direct flights (oddly direct CUN-DTW: but nothing the other direction). I have package deal [another company NOT an airline] that uses CO out of DTW (DTW-IAH-CUN) so it not a non-stop flight, but overall $ amount for the same package is substantially less the NWA's leasure travel deal.
Question:
If fly CO do I still get the EQM's transferred. Or must I use NWA and then if it is codeshared *only* with CO metal I get the miles (which I would bet is the case, but I am checking).
On the other hand, USA 3000 has 99.00 fares (total cost and it is non-stop DTW-CUN) and I save 500+ bucks on the airfare and I could just book a hotel package....I kinda want the miles though, the wife does not understand the obsession
Thanks

All eligible flights on Continental (except those booked in M class), regardless of whether they're codeshared with Northwest, earn EQMs in your Northwest WorldPerks account. However, note that certain fare classes earn only 50% EQM as opposed to the full 100%:

If you'll really save $500 in airfare by choosing USA3000 instead of NW/CO, I'd go that route. If you really want the miles, spend your $500 on a cheap mileagerun to Europe or something that will net 10x as many miles.

Well, I did what themicah suggested, before he posted. It was actually a bit more than a $500.00 saving over either CO or NWA (99.00 each way nonstop: DTW-CUN....how one does this and makes money is a question that perhaps we should not ask
). I have actually flown USA 3000 and it was always enjoyable, food, ontime, really nice folks working for them etc. I think because they bundle with Apple tours that is how they discount airfares....but the fares were as stated above. In any case, my wife really thought I was nuts trying to stay with NW (I actually feel guilt for not flying the frigging airline ....it's horrible [but I guess it's great for managment to have nut like me flying the red tail] esp. since I have to pay for exit row seating now!). I have a bunch of travel coming up and I will, if necessary, do the MR later in the year. Again, thanks to all on FT for taking the time to offer your advice.Best.

(I know this question might be dumb, but im friggin' confused...)
Does the above apply for NW or CO or both? Reason i ask is that I am about to pull the trigger on a V fare from BOS-MIL via AMS... and Swiss air has the same itin for 100 bux cheaper. Id rather do NW if I get full miles...if not ill pull the trigger on swiss...would i get full miles on NW??
How about the misses as she is Silver on DL? (im Silver on NW...) thx gang.

NW/KL V fares on NW/KL metal will earn 100% EQMs in Worldperks.
See http://www.nwa.com/freqfly/earn/airfl.shtml for the complete lists of which fare codes earn how many EQMs when flying on non-codeshare tickets (i.e., coded and operated by the same airline).
When flying on codeshare tickets, it can get a bit more complicated, because your fare code is determined by the coding airline while the EQMs are determined by the operating airline. NW has posted information for codeshared CO metal, but not for other carriers. This becomes a problem when flying on cheap DL-coded KE metal, for example, where certain classes may not earn WP miles at all.
