In the case of cessation of operations, there are no guarantees about any airline honoring anything relating to NW except tickets, for which they are federally required to honor (on standby) for a nominal fee.

Miles and status may be honored by another airline or Skyteam partner, however, there are no guarantees. The popular rumor is that AA may be interested.

To conclude, if NW goes Ch. 7/Liquidation/Strike/Cessation of Operations, there are no guarantees about anything except tickets.

Overall I hope they make it, but at this point I want them to either strike or settle, the sooner the better. I can still make Ex plat on AA. I would hate for this to go on for several more months and not have enough time to make it. I almost have gold with NW this year, better flight schedules, very few flights with AA or anyone else so far.
