Welcome to FlyerTalk and the Delta forum in particular, pcmud!

Because you are inquiring about using your Northwest WorldPerks miles, this thread really belongs in the Northwest forum, which is now its new home.

Back to your question.......You can use miles to upgrade when you purchase a qualifying ticket on Northwest, KLM or Continental. The best you can hope for when flying on DL metal is to get mileage credit.

What About Elite Upgrades?

Does one's NW Elite Status carry any weight with any alliance partners??

Any ST elite status on Delta gets basically all the perks of being a Delta elite with the exception of the upgrades. Priority check-in, boarding (Zone 2/3), possibly security (most likely for Golds/Plats only...I don't know if that's how it works at NW), preferred seating (front of coach and exit rows) and whatever percentage bonus miles NW gives you will all be received. The only perk a Medallion would have is the shot at the upgrade.

I believe NW Plats only get a 100% mileage bonus on Delta vs. the 125% when flying CO or NW.
