pinnacle?
Anyone know what it will be like taking "Pinnacle" airline from Minneapolis to Dulles? When I booked my roundtrip from dulles to asia, I failed to notice that the above leg was with pinnacle....and i've never seen that before on my US-Asia trips. I"m gold, so the only thing i know is that i won't be upgraded to first class (and that i won't be able to carryon my large backpack, with i usually do). I"m wondering if I should pay $50 to change the return flight date to try to get a NWA plane.

Pinnacle only flies small regional jets with horrible seating and no F. MSP-IAD is WAY TOO LONG to sit on a crj. I would rather go MSP-DTW-IAD with a 12 hour layover than spend that much time on a crj.
Good luck!

Heck, I'd rather drive it. At least you can get decent food on the way.
If the FC loads on the regular NW planes are reasonably light, I say shell out the $50. If it were me, I'd save my money and suck it up but I'm in grad school and can't afford to toss $$$ around. If it won't hurt your budget, pony up. You won't regret it.

I flew ATL-MSP in a similar Delta Connection Tonkajet Monday night.
"It ain't no fun."
And I had one of the two best bulkhead seats (2C) in the plane. When we landed in MSP in -6 weather, my coat was in my carryon (gate checked, of course) and my seat-neighbor's coat was in his car. They often don't use jetways (and didn't Monday night) so I got to wait in -6 weather for my carryon.
I think they'd be great planes for the right applications. For example, they'd be ideal for shuttling people between terminals at ATL.
Also flew in a Pinnacle Tonkajet CVG-STL on Saturday. Similar size bulkhead seat, no snacks.

If they removed but 3-4 rows of seats and subsequently boosted legroom, it'd make all the difference in the world. Stupid mini-planes. In Eric Cartman's words, "midgets pi$$ me off."

Yes, I'm missing something -- my love & adoration for CRJ's.
I'm sure I'll get used to them.
Eventually.

3+ hours, DTW to AUS. Probably nobody dies. But for sure, creaky and cranky by the end of the flight. Anybody know of a longer CRJ route?

Back when DL had it's DFW hub, I flew from OAK to DFW in a CRJ which is 1457 miles. Then I had another CRJ from DFW to DTW (987 miles). AUS-DTW is 1145 miles.

Last winter I did about four months worth of CLE <-> MSP on Continental Express Embraer regional jets (mostly RJ145's) and loved them. 1 - 2 seating, seats about the same width as NW's CRJ's, but more leg room. So when NW went to the CRJ's between MSP and MDW on Thursday nights, I thought no big deal. Wrong, just plain wrong (no pun intended). I've done two weeks on them, and have switched to departing from ORD because I hate the CRJ's. And that's for a 58 minute flight. No friggen way would I ride one of them for a couple of hours.
