Question About Aircraft ID Code

Booking flight AZO-SAN for March business. I note that SAN-DTW-AZO (return flight) has a code listed for the DTW-AZO flight as AR8. Usually a DC9, CJ, Avro (which are being discontinued) or Saab makes this short hop. Anyone know what type of equipment an AR8 is? Or is this a new ID identifier for one of the above aircraft?

Thanks very much, Andy

AR8 = Avro RJ85

Himmelhund,

The AR8 is Avro RJ 85, the aircraft liked by most NW elites due to its large and comfortable seats.

Thanks. Unfortunately the Avros are history on Jan 1 (if reports are correct). NWA pulled out of the leases and stuck MASABA after filing. In any case, thanks very much for the help.
