Question Delayed upgrade processing for Thanksgiving?

I (platinum) and my bride (silver) are going DTW-DFW on the 21st, returning on the 25th.

We've been upgraded on the 25th , but not on the 21st . There appear to be seats available on the 21st.

Anyone know if there are different upgrade rules in the busy travel time right before Thanksgiving??

Thanks.

That doesn't really surprise me... Friday, 25 November is usually a relatively slow travel day [in comparison to the other days around Thanksgiving]; while the days leading up to Thanksgiving are quite busy w/ holiday travellers and business folks returning home. NWA is probably holding out for some last minute full fares on the 21st.

I have 3 segments on the 20th (tomorrow) and all of them cleared for upgrade at the 3-day window. All FC cabins are no more than half full. (PVD-DTW-MEM-SHV). Although they could in fact be holding out for last-minute buys. It's not the most logical system at times, although I can't say I have any complaints.

I noticed the same thing

I have a DCA-DTW-MEM-LAS trip on November 23. DCA-DTW segment cleared a few hours ago, while DTW-MEM and MEM-LAS still in coach.

Fingers crossed!

... how full is coach? typically they hold upgrades into F so they have room to move ppl on overbooked coach flights. Typically if you are a Plat checked in at 23:59, you'll have a good shot at those seats...

Makes sense to me. We'll see what happens.

Coach is 2/3 full. Early check in is in the plan.

Thanks for the input.

I'll post a note if something happens.

BTW - Happy Thanksgiving to all looking in. Safe Travel.

My 11/22 MSN-DTE-MCO flights haven't upgraded. All pretty full, so I won't be a conspiracy theorist yet.

We'll see...

I was going to post the exact same thing

PDX-MSP-DTW on 11/24 both segs are P9F9Y9 etc. F seat map wide open; Y seat map wide open. No EUA yet for either 11/24 flight. I have already had the Plat CSR reenter my new status into my reservations so I don't believe that is the problem.

Should I call again; or given that we are only on the 5th day before travel is it too early to get excited? thanks from this first-time platinum... giddy for a 5 day EUA.

I am replying to myself to soothe my anxiety.

With both flights P9F9Y9...K9, and all seat maps wide open, no EUA at 4 days plus 1 hour to flight time. I believe Plat EUAs had been running closer to 6 days than 5. I can't believe they're holding back R with the availability ITN is showing. Confused

Upgrade came through

FYI.

The upgrade fairy left the upgrades under my pillow last night. So all is well.

Thanks to all who commented.

I can offer data from an n of 1. I booked flights yesterday (11-19) for Thursday (11-24 DCA-MEM-ATL) and Friday (11-25 ATL-DTW-DCA one flight with a stop). And at a really good fare $177 RT. It didn't happen overnight, but when I checked just now all of the upgrades had come through.

I was warned when I moved to DC that upgrades out of DCA would be hard to come by. So far I am 9 for 10 -- one last minute and the only one that I didn't get was the Sunday early afternoon flight MSP-DCA.

Thank you NW.

still waiting for MSP to DCA on 11/22 - looks to be about 5 seats open (I'm Platinum) but I was hoping for a companion upgrade, on an itinerary with 1 other, so maybe that's my problem.

I was upgraded this morning (4 days out) on a ORD-DTW flight on 11/24. Thanksgiving Day, I know, so loads might be a bit light...BUT... ITN reports P2 F2 on that DC9, so I dunno what's up. A day early for this Gold Elite when ITN reports P2 F2...?

I got my BOS-MSP upgrade 5days out for 11/23, nothing special. Y is packed but F is empty, maybe they wanted to make some space in Y to sell some more tickets?
