stainless flatware back
This may have been noted by already, but yesterday morning, Sept 30 I got stainless steel flatware on two breakfast flights -- DCA-MSP and MSP-SMF. First time I'd seen it in several months. The flatware on DCA-MSP was mismatched, on the MSP-SMF flight it all matched and seemed to be a new pattern.
BTW I searched the forum on this topic before posting and found a post from January 2005 noting that there was new stainless flatware and dinnerware being planned for first class along with a selection of several red and white wines.
How the airline world has changed in just 9 months.

the challenges of search -- AI search tools
The challenges of search that is not artificially intelligent.
I searched on stainless and found nothing recent. I thought to search on silver, but that would have given me all of the silver elite messages. And didn't search on metal because I expected to get thing about aircraft types, i.e CO metal, NW metal. Thanks.

There was Stainless Cutlery on my last domestic meal (MSP/LAX)
NWA has purchased additional stainless steel knives, forks and spoons and has re-introduced "permanent cutlery" back in domestic FC.
It had been temporarily switched to plastic to conserve silverware until the "on-order" silverware was received.

DTW-LGW in WBC;
Stainless fork and spoon, plastic knife with the combined appetizer/salad/dinner course. Asked the FA about the plastic knife, and she said she thought it was because the flight was going to London.
BUT, they served the dessert course [cheese/dessert] with another silverware wrap.. and... it had a stainless knife.. both myself and the FA were in awe.
on the return trip LGW-DTW in WBC;
ALL PLASTIC FOR ALL COURSES...
Go figure....

Finally had a meal flight myself last week (I had to keep passing on the Cobb Salad wrap...another one of those things that just shouldn't be). I was a bit surprised to still see the paper napkin and placemat, but there was a stainless steel knife in with the 2 plastic forks and a spoon. Maybe they should try pairing all plastic and all stainless for more consistency.
