Rolling points into another program?
Today's Wall Street Journal has an article on how the recent bankruptcy filings will affect fliers. Towards the end of the article there is a piece about someone from Ohio who was rolling his points with NW to the loyalty program at Continental. The articles mentions that this was permitted because the two airlines were in the same alliance.
I thought that rolling over point into another loyalty program was not permitted. Does WSJ have the facts wrong or am I making some mistake interpreting the article?

I'll be surprised if the WSJ reporter knows more about the ins-and-outs of frequent flyer program than us at flyertalk.
Unless that person suffers from serious devaluation of his miles through some exchange program, I'm not aware of any program that will allow him to exchange his WorldPerks miles to OnePass miles on a 1:1 ratio.
As we all know, WorldPerks miles can be used to travel on CO metal.
This won't be the first or last time newspaper articles have their facts wrong, be it WSJ or some local community press.
