Seat Assignment Changes
Flying DTW-AMS-MUC next Monday (A330, F70). Ticket was booked as a Y fare, so I was able to burn 15,000 miles for the WBC upgrade on the outbound, no availability on the return. Phone agent put me in a window per my request, and even got me row 3 on the KLM Fokker 70. I went online and had some trouble finding my reservation. When I did, noticed that the seatmap showed all of row 1 open, but would not allow me to select the Premium seat. Thats when I realized my Worldperks number did not make it in the reservation - flight was booked through our corporate online system as a KLM flight, so it was not smart enough to use my NW number. Added the number and moved up to 1A per seatguru's info. I'm wondering now if I missed availability on the return if the system was not seeing me as silver elite.
Today I just noticed I was moved to 4B and 1A is taken. Also looks like I was moved farther back on the return, but still in the front 1/2 of the plane. Not a big deal as I was able to grab 1J and any WBC on the A330 is far better than coach, but kind of strange.
Can paid F bump an upgrade? Platinum trump my silver? Just curious why changes happend as there was no equipment change and still many seats open, at least on the seat maps.

You were seated in a bulkhead, which means you can be moved for the elderly, disabled, babies, or the ever popular Air Marshal.

On a side note, I had 5F reserved on the DTW-MSN portion of my HAM-MSN return next month, but after an apparent schedule change for that flight, the seat was now listed as unassigned. When I tried to reassign 5F for that flight, "My NWA Info" showed only the seat map for the AMS-DTW flight and the DTW-MSN flight was not reflected at all in the seat map options. Pulling up a seat map using a reservations search showed 5F empty. A call to Chisholm, MN let an agent re-enter my FF number into what must have been a KL-referenced record. I then got 5F, and minutes later was able to pull up the seat map for the DTW-MSN flight again in "My NWA Info." It's always worth checking the status of seats (and potential schedule changes) on upcoming flights (my flight time had changed, but I still haven't gotten a schedule change e-mail from NWA).
