I was wondering what luck anyone was having upgrading to/from MSP DTW? I fly this route r/t every week and only get a rare bump up. The flights are generally packed so I guess there are plenty of Plat. and Gold (my level). Would calling the WP elite line help? I now just wait to see if I clear automatically. Looking for any suggestions (besides buying a Y tick).

Can you change your flight times? I UGd a couple times last year as a Silver; both were mid-day flights on 757s. Some combination of the time of day and/or the good ratio of F/Y seats on the 757 seemed to help (one flight was also on a $1600 B fare ticket, which may also have helped).

Any idea why? Doesn't seem like that big a business center.

I think that clarence5ybr mentioned high tourist (skiing) demand.

Think ski season is over (although it did snow Monday morning).

Last Friday was the first time I have flown the route, but I was upgraded at the beginning of my Gold window, no problem. Actually, when I went in to change my seat assignment, there were only 3 other people in the (large) cabin.

As another poster mentioned, I was on the 757 flight mid-morning (~11ish?).

Ski season is pretty well winding down, which is probably why my recent UGs came through, but it was a bigg issue in the winter. I think there are also a fair number of meetings/trade shows that draw Elite sales reps--on my flight out on Wednesday, for instance, there were a lot of people from a farm equipment meeting talking to each other at the gate. The Reno area is also growing quite rapidly, with both people and businesses fleeing the relativly high cost of living and tax situation in CA.

A call to NWA confirms there's lots of R, but nobody is getting upgraded. Anyone else having problems with this upcoming weekend?
I've had the same thing happen a couple of times lately, but I always seem to get the UG in the end.

Left SEA on the redeye last wens nite on a SEA-MSP-FLL routing. Upgraded for the SEA-MSP leg 5 days out, but did not get upgraded on MSP-FLL leg until the gate in MSP.

Already upgraded for the return on tue, FLL-DTW-MSP-SEA.

This trip gives me 67 EQS, and I have been upgraded on all domestic segments, and was op-up'ed on 3 of 5 intl segments.

I admit it.....I am now addicted to upgrades. Hope the present policy does not change.

Very envious. In more than 10 years as Gold then Platuinum, with at least 40 international (mostly Europe) segments I have received only one op-upgrade, and that was ATHENS-AMS this spring.

But my daughter, in her 20's, with no status, has received 2 out of about 10. Maybe that's the secret...

Question Full Fare?

Perhaps you are on a full fare? All elites (Silver, Gold, & Plat) are entitled to immediate domestic FC upgrades upon booking a full class fare. This nailed me on my flight out SEA to MSP on Thursday at 9 a.m. FC was full before the first Plat's on discount tickets were even touched!
