Throwaway return ticket??

I am a NW Elite and now enjoying the AF Skyteam connections alot. One question for people with AF experience. For some complicated reasons, I have a ticket ARL-BOS and return BOS-CDG but no connection for CDG-ARL. The price for a oneway ticket is crazy and I was thinking of buying a relative cheap, Sat. night stay etc. CDG-ALN and then just throwing away the return. I assume I wouldn't get any miles for the trip but would AF check I didn't return, try to charge full fare etc. I know people used to do this all the time but don't know the current stay of play or how it was/is handled on AF

Thanks in advance for any help.

Joe

I suggest that you try the AF forum since their policies might be different than NW's.

Smile The airport police will not hunt you down.

I am quite sure that no airline encourages this type of activity, I am equally sure that unless you are doing it on back to back flights it will not be noticed.

How many flights have you taken recently where some one did not show up? I know that the airlines are not out looking for them.

Make the return some time in the future and dont worry about it. You will be fine as long as you dont ask for you $$$$ back on the un-used leg. ^

If you're really worried about it, your best bet is to use a different carrier - one you have no status on.

I have done many "throw aways" over the years. Just waiting for the call asking me why I did not take that return flight.

My answer?

Hey, I did take that and now that you mention it, I am glad you called. I notice you did not give me credit for that flight. Can you fix that for me?

How can they PROVE you did not take the flight?

This is no problem on AF and I would even suggest you call reservations after your first leg to cancel your return - freeing up the seat for someone else - they will thank you for it!
