How close ..is close?

I have noticed some commentary on asking to maintain elite status without having acquired the needed miles. I never thought about it as I am 4,000 miles short due to family member's illness and death. Would the fact I have all ready purchased tickets for 25,000 miles for this year add any weight to a request?

Yes.

You should call/email/write anyway since only NWA knows if you will get comped. Good luck.

Gosh...I am delighted to get encouragement from the members. Who exactly or how should I contact NWA to see about getting the elite status?

most likely call Customer Service at the elite desk, as they are usually the nicest people

Just to be sure/clear on the best place to ask.....when I get the prompts do I choose a reservation or world perks prompt choice? If I email, who would I direct the question to or what address would you suggest?

I would keep calling into the WP line until you get a TA that will fix you up with Elite. Depending on who you get on the other end of the line... your mileage will vary.

How Close is close?

I would have to beleive that each time people call in to ask a question regarding their account it gets noted. I know this is the way with reservations so I would think it's the way WP accounts are handled too. I guess what I am trying to say is by calling in over and over to get the answer you want you might end up hurting yourself.

I know from customer relations, at least this is what I have been told by them, that they keep records of who calls in so that they can keep in eye on "chronic complainers."

NWDC10 has a good point (welcome to FT BTW).

Simply call and any agent will forward your call to the proper place or will tell you how to get in touch with the right wp office.
