Funny thing is that my mom was a "stewardess" for American and that is how she met my dad.
Way cool! Thanks for sharing your story... AWESOME.

Toodles!

Cool This Reminds Me of a Cartoon

Not that I am not interested in hearing stories and information about $25 FC upgrades (I am)... but this reply from Alpha Golf to your wonderful post, Heasdtrong, reminds me of a cartoon I once saw from the "Overboard" series (the comical life of Pirates on a ship). A shipmate looks depressed and is approached by another and asked what is wrong. The shipmate recalls how he purchased a very expensive engagement ring for his girlfriend with his entire life savings. He tells his colleague that he showed it to the Captain of the ship and handed it to him to take a close look at. The Captain had been eating hot buttered popcorn and the ring accidentally slipped through his fingers and landed in the sea -- lost forever. After a beat, the colleague turns to the shipmate and states, "You mean there's hot buttered popcorn on the ship?!"

Alpha Golf -- You're the colleague in this story... {nudge, nudge}.

Toodles!

My husband actually has the boarding pass from that flight. I don't remember the date but it was March 1991. NW was offering upgrades for full fare coach pax. He really thought he was something sitting up there. It was DTW-DCA.

I was going home SYD-HNL-LAX-DTW-DCA on day and he met me in DTW. He asked me to marry him in the F concourse just before I got on my flight. I ended up sitting in FC next to Alice Cooper. He graciously listened to me babble on and even showed interest in my new diamond.

And another inane, off-topic post.

HS - Great story!!!

So to clarify, you had previously meet your husband on a DTW-DCA flight, then, he proposed while you were transiting via DTW on a different flight/trip at some later date?

Did Alice Cooper compare jewerly with you? Next you are in PHX, he has his own evening talk show on KDKB.

Anything's better than ending every post with "toodles!" I'm not sure I can take much more of that.

hooverer...you have it right.

Now that I think about it, the flight I met him on was the same one I was taking to get home when he proposed. Weird.

Alice Cooper was very nice and didn't have a lot of jewelry on. I'm sorry to say though...not the most attractive man
