Forgive me if this has been mentioned (search still down).... I just read the new rules for Platinum Companions on award tickets:

"Companions traveling on WorldPerks Award Tickets, Continental Reward Tickets and certain companion fares are not eligible for First Class upgrades."

I'm not pleased! This was one of the best plat perks from my perspective. Well, naturally it would be, lol. Sheesh.... after being made a virtual widow due to Mr RW's constant travel on NWA, I can't help it... I feel like I'm entitled to a first class seat on the rare occasions I talk him into a vacation. So now I have to sit in the back/bribe him out of his upgrade? :(

This is not a new rule. Companion traveling on an award ticket has never been eligibile for a complimentary upgrade.
Of course, the Plat elite member flying on an award ticket will still be eligibile for upgrade.

Weird... I looked up rule in the old Elite Benefits Guide and found the same wording. However, I was able to do this a few times last year. I called the plat line and was told that I will still be able to do this. Not sure why it says different in the benefits guide, but I am certainly grateful for the seat up front!

My spouse has been upgraded by kind GA's on an award ticket.
Also been told no on other occasions!
