Perhaps because flights operated to the South Pacific are on Hawaiian Air... so perhaps the mileage levels are not posted on nwa.com. My guess is that the mileage redemption levels are similar to Hawaiian Air's, but again, this is only my best guess.

Actually, Slippah, I was thinking of the Hawai'i to Micronesia awards (as well as HNL-CNS), all on CO-Air Mike. In the past, it was 40,000 miles for HNL-Micronesia, and (I think) twice as much for HNL-CNS (using NW miles, of course; with onepass miles, it was 40,000). I can't tell how many miles these awards require now.

One spot I'm confused: it doesn't show a mileage for US48-MiddleEast in the FC/BF column. Hopefully that's just an oversight and not an indication that CO BF awards to TLV are no longer allowed.

Oh, and honu, looks like your Hawaii to South Asia and South Pacific awards are on the charts now.

BUT in order to get ANYWHERE in Asia on current Skyteam choices, you'd have to transit in NRT or ICN, thereby incurring a North/South Asia ticket, vs. a simple "within North Asia" or "within South Asia" ticket.
MH is still an option, though not mentioned on the chart. Hope it's still around! Also, China Southern might join at some point too. But nothing yet.
Here's the kicker:
"Flights within or between North Asia and South Asia on Korean Air require 50,000 miles for Coach,*70,000 miles for*Business and*100,000 miles for First Class."
Compare this to the old NW award levels of Y=20K, C=30K, and F=40K. Yuck! Especially on within North Asia--that means the 1hr15min flight ICN-NRT on KE would be 100,000 miles in F. Umm....think I'll pass!
Finally, there is no listing of intra-Asia award levels, other than on KE (and that's in the footnotes). Does that mean that NW/MH awards are still 20/30/40? :eek: I hope so!

I LOVE quoting myself! Anyway, I see the mileage charts are more complete now, and the main change in intra-Asia award travel is that if you're flying NWA, it's still 20/30K to fly in Y/C. So that is good, though NWA only flies between Japan and Asia. So unless you're going to Japan, it's not so useful. MH is still 20/30/60. I thought MH was 40K for FC, but I guess I was wrong on that, because the "old" chart also shows 60K.
Also, Upgrades from Asia to USA did go up from 25K to 30K OW. Too much!

I ignore KE because of the ridiculous mileage requirements to fly them.... But does anyone see an oversight in the SE Asia-USA footnotes about flying KE? I see they mention that flying KE to Hawaii costs more, as well as intra-Asia, and also to South Pacific. But not to the continental US. So is a KE FC SIN-ICN-JFK only 120K? That would actually be quite good, though I think they have a FC and a "Premium FC", so I'm guessing this is in the non-flat-bed-FC.
MH looks like it's staying at 120K as well for the long haul to the US, also good.

What I'm curious about though: I bought a K fare ticket IN JAPAN to go to CHINA and return. The restrictions wouldn't seem to apply, but I'm sure there's some catch。

OK, I'm confused. It appears that DL flights do not qualify for WP EQS, but certain CO fare codes do. For comparison, here are my examples:

DL flight, fare code H = No EQS, only qualifying miles (right?)
CO flight, fare code V = EQS yes/no?, but miles qualify (not sure)
CO flight, fare code T = EQS yes/no?, but miles qualify (not sure)

Since I have a shot each year at Platinum based upon EQS, but not mileage, any idea which of the CO ticketed flights will qualify for EQS under the 2005 rules?

inter Asia award mileage
 
OK, this is strange.

How many miles are needed for inter Asia awards? I tried some arbitriary dates and here are the results:

PVG-SIN 20K WSTD 30K DSTD

PVG-SEL/MNL/BKK 40K WSTD 60K DSTD

All flights go through NRT.

Why the difference? I have no explanation about PVG-SIN.......

that's news to me. whenever i try to price out pvg-mnl online, i get itineraries with 2 fares fused together like this:

1 Adult fare MR3AP MJWAP

(the former is sha-tyo and the latter tyo-mnl).

I think I mentioned that my wife is from the Fiji Islands. With the 2005 changes and the new Skyteam Global Alliance, is there a way for me to get a flight from LAX to NAD (Nadi, Fiji) using my WP miles?

The lowest fare may be a combination of two fares, but NW still does publish fares (Y, J, F) in the SHA-MNL market.

Check Expedia.ca's fare listings... search for PVG-MNL, showing only Northwest Airlines fares.

Great question my wife has always wanted to visit Fiji. From what I can tell, Nadi is NAN and the only airlines I could find were Quantis, Air New Zealand, United, American, Air Canada and US Airways. None of which are code share partners with NW. :eek:
