It's late and this is confusing, I need your help understanding how many miles this will earn, please trying to make Gold. They are listing this as 2 flights on the way there, (MSP-IND-DTW-MDW) when it's actually 3. I just want to make sure I get 2000 miles for this itenary. Please help...

That will be credited as a total of four flights. MSP-IND-DTW-MDW-MSP I would guess when you searched for it you put MSP-IND, IND-MDW, then MDW-MSP. IND-MDW is not a direct flight (with a stop) because it has two flight numbers.

It will count for 2000 miles. Actually probably 2002 because of that first 502 mile leg.

That's what I was thinking too, but I'm just toooooo tired to think straight. I've been looking at flgiths for hours until I found this combo, then I go to book it and it shows up like that and I'm like dazed because I see Flight 2 as IND-DTW DTW-MDW. I'm glad I kept looking and found this, because I saved $160 doing it this way. ^

Beware, total flight miles don't always correlate with Worldperk miles, often a few miles less, But your iteneray should net at least 2,000.

Very true. I have been on several flights from SEA-MCO where a direct flight, stopping in MSP, earned fewer EQM than being on a flight making a connection in MSP, and then on to MCO.

I have been told that if I book a direct flight, say SEA-MCO, I get SEA-MCO miles, even though routed SEA-MSP-MCO. If I book a connecting flight SEA-MSP-MCO, I get SEA-MSP miles plus MSP-MCO miles. It is not a big difference, but if you are close to a status upgrade at end of year, it might be worth considering.

It seems crazy to me, especially if you have ever reached MSP and been told that the outbound segment of the direct flight leaves out of another gate. But I am told that is how the program works.

One more reason why "direct" flights are a load of cr*p. I avoid them whenever possible.
