Fare Code Changes
I've been going MSN --> LGA (sometimes HPN) for several months now. When seats were available, as they often were, a RT Q-class ticket was originally $294 and then after the fare increase went to $314 which was really reasonable. I went to book tickets for November and I am getting the $314 but it's booking it into V-class at that rate and Q-class is now $368.
For 1-2-3 free it's fine because the V-class still qualifies, but I generally like to book into Q because I am of the superstition that it's easier to change the ticket if I have to. I also like the extra Mile-Zilla points. I suppose NW would also view me as more valuable if I had Q tickets usually instead of V (although there are some H, M & B in the mix).
Has anyone else who books regularly noticed that their fare is the same but the fare code is lower? Are there any reasons for this? I'll never fully understand the intricacies of this sytem but I'm trying to figure out if I should hold off on booking to see if it will go back to the Q level.
