Hi,
I (platinum) and my husband (silver) are flying K MSP-SMF Friday night and returning Monday. Just checked on-line and confirmed with elite line that I did not get automatic upgrade although there are seats available for sale. Since my husband and I are on the same ticket will the gold and silver single tickets get remaining seats or will remaining seats wait until gating area for assignment? If not until gate assignment, where would my husband and I fall into the mix?
Thanks,
Gwen

What it means is that NW will keep trying to sell those seats right up to til the last minute.
Once the EUA (upgrade) bucket is empty then upgrades happen at the gate in priority order.
If NW releases additional seats into the EUA bucket then the nightly computer run will start with plats first, then golds, then silvers.
Plats who purchase tickets late in the game (say less than 3 days) before will often ride in coach since the gold EUA run will have already filled most of first.
NW's EUA system as currently built favors those who can plan ahead (and pay the least) and amazingly (to me at least) punishes last minute flyers who pay the most for their fares. The new 'R' bucket is designed to reduce this problem... but it cannot get rid of it entirely.

I mistyped my title. It should have read Upgrade Changes. Anyway what I am wondering is what the changes are of my husband and I upgrading at the gate if we are on the same ticket? I am platinum but will my husband being silver hinder us?
Thanks doglover for responding.

If you booked both on the same locator, then he should get the same upgrade as you (A Platinum perk). If you booked these real recently, you might want to get the airport early. I'd have thought you'd have gotten your upgrades already. I'm 100% as a plat this year on NW.
