Connecting in DTW to the NcNamera Terminal from the Old LC Smith Terminal

Does someone know the pax transportation to connect from a United inbound flight (at the LC Smith Tenminal) to the McNamera Terminal.

Do you need to leave the secure area of the LC Smith Terminal and then be rescreened at the McNamera Terminal?

I've always connected through DTW on NW and never had to transfer terminals.

Follow the signs for the shuttle buses outside the terminal. You will need to be rescreened.

How often do the shuttles run - How long a connection is it?

What is the typical time (from leaving the Smith Terminal to entering the McNamera Terminal) to get from an arriving UA gate to the security checkpoint at the McNamera Terminal?

Also, does the shuttle bus stop at the DTW Westin Hotel at the NcNamera Terminal?

I believe that the shuttle actually has the Westin logo on it, and doesn't stop at the Westin, but stops in the "Commercial Vehicle Dropoff" lane at the parking garage of the McNamara terminal. (I could be wrong on this detail, it's been a few years since I've had to use it, and this was before the Westin opened)

Only catch is that I think the shuttle only runs on the upper level at the LC Smith terminal.

If you're going into McNamara terminal, can go through the security line in the Westin. I've never had more than 1 person in line in front of me there.

And the strangest thing happened last week. I had the dreaded SSSS and they just waved me thru.

Shhhh!!!!!!!!!

After getting off the United flight, stay on the departures level. Go out toward the curb, exiting through the rightmost set of doors. There's a bus stop out the doors and to the right.

In theory, the bus runs every 5-10 minutes.

The bus will drop you on the upper level at the McNamara Terminal, outside the Westin. As recommended, just walk through the Westin to the checkpoint (as I imagine you've done before.)

No -- RC posted this for me so that I will be able to navigate to the happy hour that he has planned this friday night. I've actually never been in the NW terminal as I always fly US/UA on the rare occasions that I go to Detroit.

So the bar at the Westin is before security, correct?

Thanks for your help!

Yup. Enter the exterior Westin door, proceed down the hall, down the escalator, and hang two rights...restaurant's on the left, bar's on the right.

Arrow Who will be at the DTW Westin between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM on 8/13/04?

Would the NWA FTers attending the FTer reception on Friday 8/13/04 please post arrival/departure times.

Some sort of did. You might want to bump up the thread in this forum.
