1st Class Seating Map?
Has any one else had a problem recently accessing the F class seating map? I am doing IND-DTW-MEM-MSY on 4-19. It shows that I have F class seats on all 3 legs, but when I try to access the map it takes me to coach?

fromYXU, I think the problem is that when we've already bought (or have been upgraded) our seats, we're unable to actually select which FC seat we want. I for one miss it, because I always get upgraded to an aisle seat, when I specifically have "window" as my preference.
This has been going on for at least a week!

Could it have something to do with your Class of Service showing "Coach (R)" instead of "First (F)"?
Since NW is going with the R class for elite upgrades, the IT folks probably haven't finished reprogramming everything, including which seat map to bring up when the class of service is R.
Just a thought.

I read somewhere that Northwest was rolling out the change to "R" class for upgrades May 1. They are phasing it in early. Not all systems can change overnight. It's a slight problem not seeing the correct seat map - but you can always change your seat at the 36 hour mark when you check-in. Check-in, from what I understand, has been changed already and displays the proper seat map.
I remember the days (within the past two years) when Continental would upgrade me....the class of service would still show "Coach (V)" for example but the seat map would come up in first class. That's always better than getting the coach map to come up.
Point...I wouldn't worry too much about it. You have the power to change your seat at check-in or call NW and ask them to change it (at least until May 1) and hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks, NW fixes this glitch.

FWIW - When you are shopping for seats and select first for domestic, nwa.com does not seem to want to show you the seats in the first cabin until you have selected (not purchased) the flight pair, up to that point, it shows the main cabin if you select seat map. Once you have identified a flight pair, then it seems to allow you to look at first seating (without getting into different fair classes etc.), at least that has been my recent expereince. - Hooverer

F seat map
Hooverer is correct ^ (plus 10 reputation points!)
Just "pretend" you are buying an F or J seat, go all the way through the process until 1 step before confirming the purchase. At that point (at the bottom of the screen) you can view seats for your flight.
Then becareful and cancel before purchase!

I had no problem last week pulling it up to switch seats a few days prior to a flight after the EUA ran. I always get EUA'd into an Aisle seat, even though my preference is set for window. Because of this, I'll typically go on to nwa.com and swap seats. Usually the aisles are full and the window seats open.
From what I understand, when the EUA runs, it assigns aisle seats first and then goes to window seats.
What is this about upgrades being coded "R"?
I had my flights from Thursday post and they are showing "F" as the class of service when I view my activity on-line. I had some flights on Tuesday, but they haven't posted yet.
On another note, I almost missed an upgrade on Tuesday, but after encountering lost/delayed luggage problems, an agent upgraded me from "P" inventory on one segment when I had inquired about my flights for the following day after going through a luggage claim.
I also have a print-out of the record and it's interesting:
UPG AUTO UPG NW xxxx/08APRSDFDTW ^
UPG AUTO UPG NW xxxx/08APRDTWBOS ^
....
UPG AUTO FAILED NO SEATS NW xxxx/13APRDTWSDF/08APR AT 0420
UPG AUTO FAILED NO SEATS NW xxxx/13APRBOSDTW/09APR AT 1034
.....
UPG AUTO UPG NW xxxx/13APRDTWSDF ^
xxxx = flight #.
The EUA keeps going once a day until it gets a "AUTO UPG" (or doesn't) and it was interesting seeing how many times the UPG failed until it went through. For my outbound, it was sucessful right off the bat; for my return, it started 5 days out and it kept giving the "fail" message until I scored the one DTW-SDF segment. I was surprised after looking at the record -- normally the SDF-DTW / DTW-SDF flights clear the first run through.
I wonder how it's determined at what time each day the auto upgrade runs; looking at the fail notices, it looks like it's run at different times in the morning such as 0420, 1034, 0746, 0419, etc. On my return, the DTW-SDF was sucessful, but the BOS-DTW wasn't sucessful as an auto, but thankfully I got it the day prior out of P inventory as a "service recovery gesture".
Best,
SDF_Traveler
P.S. Thankfully my luggage wasn't on "walkabout" too long; It didn't arrive with me on Monday in BOS, but I finally received it today (Wednesday) in Louisville. Lots of tags on my luggage when it came in too:
1) Original To: BOS via AMS tag which Malev attached
2) A "Rush" To: BOS via AMS tag which Malev attached after they failed to load it on my aircraft in BUD.
3) A "Rush" To: SDF via DTW tag attached by NWA at BOS.
Seems Malev really dropped the ball; My bag was supposed to be on MA 662 with me, an 11:05am departure. My bag never left BUD until 5:35pm, the last flight of the day on MA to AMS.
