There's a crayfish festival I know about as a national Swedish tradition, with hats, bibs, buckets and a juicy mess leftover. Simple shrimp? Not so much.

I'm quite familiar with crayfish and the accompanying songs but been told there is a similar shrimp centered fiesta in Gothenburg.

I await a song or three .... sheet music with lyrics allowed. That crayfish festivity is coming soon too.

You'll find a few places around Stockholm doing sort of the same as in Gothenburg, but crayfish festivals are more national than the shrimp ones.

You'll find a fairly good list of restaurants in Copenhagen here, with price level, type of restaurant , location etc:

I have a couple of rec's for Stockholm. For good Swedish meatballs and other home type dishes at reasonable prices, Backfickan is a good choice:

The other place I recommend is Sturehof:

Be sure to try Max Burger too!

Hotel barging in Stockholm

I’d just thought I’d add this to the thread (even if it perhaps is misplaced).

For those of you visiting Stockholm this summer, this is a barging.

We have an agreement with Rival hotel were we place our clients visiting Stockholm and when I called to reserve today the informed me of there ridicules low summer rates. De luxe room with balcony SEK 925 ($128). If any one were to be disappointed kindly PM me and I’ll spring for the bill

Hotel Rival

Good deal. Just no hotel/airline points/miles or stay credit toward elite status.

Summer rates in Stockholm are very good, and glad to see Hotel Rival offer a very good deal too. Thanks.

Still interested in a place offering that perfect Toast Skagen and a quality beer or wine to go with it in Stockholm.

in case you still need Copenhagen recommendations: we loved Cafe Ketchup and Le Sommelier for the food and St Gertrudes Cloister for the atmosphere (underground and lit only by thousands of candles)...hope that helps

The Scandic Anglais, newly reopened, has an excellent restaurant. I'd recommend it for dinner.

In CPH, I highly recommend the restaurant in the Kong Fedrick hotel. Oddly enough, the formal dining room at the main train station in CPH has an excellent smorgasbord that is reasonably priced.
