EWR Redevelopment - New Terminal 1 to be built

EWR to build a new terminal 1 for $2.7 billon.

Terminal One is estimated to have a partial opening in 2021 and be in full operation by 2022, officials said.

Wrong link? Here's the correct one: https://www.nj.com/essex/index.ssf/2...e_develop.html

Whoever did the renderings must have been smoking the good stuff.
They don't match the article's contents at all. The article says that Terminal A will be modified but not replaced. The rendering shows an impossibly scaled down terminal in a space that would not fit that large of a building, and somehow has it as a new building, rotated, and with access to the P3 lot instead of the terminal loop road with the AirTrain.

Your link is to something else. Here's one from the NYT: https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/201...velopment.html
Are they renaming Terminal A as Terminal 1?

In the NYT article I linked, it indeed says the terminal will be demolished and replaced.

Above posts were originally posted to the obsolete "Complete Guide to EWR" thread and have now been split out into this topical thread.
