To Do in Boston and around
A friend is going to Boston in April for the first time. What would folk recommend as must do's and sees in the city and daytrips. Martha's Vineyard or Provincetown for a day trip etc?
Also interesting places to eat.
Friend will be staying at the Parker House.

April will be nice, but a little chilly still and waaayyy off season for MV and P-town. Both can be nice day trips, but for either an overnight is recommended as it's a long drive (2.5-4 hrs to P-Town, depending on traffic + boat ride for MV).
In Boston, weather permitting, walk the Freedom Trail if it's the first time in town. It's a couple miles and covers all the major sights in one shot.
What kind of dining do you like? Don't come to Boston and not eat some seafood.

visit the Boston Public Library and Trinity Church at Copley Square
take the Red Line T to Harvard Square and walk around, shop and eat
ride the commuter ferry from the waterfront down to Hull and/or Quincy and back
go to an Italian restaurant in the North End
