LL Bean ?

I will be going to Kittery next week. I have been looking at an option to go to LL Bean in Freeport. I can't find any information on transportation from the bus or train station to the outlets. Is a taxi the only way? It looks like a 15 mile hike.

Thanks

LL Bean is about 15 miles from Portland, not Kittery. Try ~55-60 miles between Kittery and Freeport.

How are you getting to Kittery?

Note that LL Bean has other retail and outlet stores throughout the Northeast, bust there's only one real LL Bean store, and that's the one in Freeport.

Here's a link to the others in case Freeport is too far.

By bus.
I have met people who have taken the Noreaster. Do they take a 15 mile taxi to the outlets?

Just to reiterate, going to the other outlet and retail store is not the same as going to the Freeport store.

Where are you coming from? The closet bus station to Kittery is in Portsmouth, NH, which indeed would be a short cab ride away. But if, for example, you'll be traveling from Boston, I would strongly recommend that you rent a car instead. Otherwise you're going to be spending a lot of time walking among all the different outlet malls in Kittery, and if you make a lot of purchases, that's going to be next to impossible.

The Noreaster is the Amtrak train which does not stop in Portsmouth but does stop in Wells which is northeast of Kittery. A cab ride from Wells is about 15-20 miles away.

So your bus drops you off in Kittery. I'm trying to see how we can help you get to LL Bean. If you could rent a car, you can visit the lighthouses and coast of southern Maine on your way to LL Bean. Bean is always open. The land is stunning and you won't see any of it at the outlets. Maybe you can take a taxi to the nearest car rental agency. It will be worth it.

Yup, big difference.

To add to Blumie's advice, the Kittery outlets are along Route 1----maybe a few miles long on both sides of the heavily trafficked road. It's a lot of walking and there really aren't sidewalks between the various outlets.

Have fun on your trip. Be sure to include some time on the coast. A visit to Nubble Light is a must IMHO especially since you'll be in York county.

Wise choice. I went to an outlet store last year and it was very disappointing. As others have said, outlet store is not the same as their Freeport store.
