Good/cool eats in Storrs, CT?
I'm heading to a meeting at UConn in a few weeks, and will have one night on my own. Are there any recommendations for fun, good, funky, and/or simple restaurants in the UConn area (I'll have a car, but would prefer to not have to drive very far)? I'd be interested in anything from something like Pepe's in New Haven to the Varsity in Atlanta.
Thanks! There don't seem to be a lot of guidebook entries on Storrs
, so I'm really in the dark here.

There's a Chinese place in a strip mall near Starbucks across from campus that is surprisingly decent given the location--sorry I can't remember the name. Looking at this page, probably Chang's Garden. Your other dining choices are pretty grim.

And on campus, the Dairy Bar makes pretty good ice cream.

Thanks for the quick response and for those links. It looks like the Dairy Bar will still be open when I roll into town, so I may be just *forced* to have ice cream for dinner
. I'm also going to print out that list all of the local restaurants, just in case.
(I'm staying at the Nathan Hale Inn, where the restaurant advertises itself as having "honest cuisine in the New England tradition" - not exactly the most appetizing description!).

Try Willington Pizza ... we had a great cheeseburger pie there once. Go to www.willingtonpizza.com; directions from Storrs are posted. Dairy Bar is also great. Make sure to ride around UConn and check out the animal barns ... good clean fun. UConn is in a beautiful, but not highly developed, area. Much nicer in spring/summer than the dead of winter!!! (although that's BASKETBALL season!!!)
