You apparently have never drive in NYC.

Driving in Boston isn't horrible. It's not fun, but it's not awful. NYC is awful. Boston on par with DC, in my experience.

A friend once described driving in Boston to me as "like the Roman Chariot Races" which I think is a great description. I say this admiringly - both good and bad.

That's a pretty awesome analogy.

Although to be fair, in the chariot races they all were going in the same direction.

I've driven in Boston a lot, did so this past weekend partly during the snowstorm even. I've also driven a number of times in NYC, including in my own, then MA-plated, car, in addition to several rentals. NYC was where I learned about five new ways to tell someone to go .... themselves, directed at me by a guy who cut me off by inches. About the only time in my life I've ever thought someone was actually going to get out of their car and try to fight me. And I can handle myself driving pretty well. Boston driving, while not enjoyable, is a cakewalk compared to much of NYC.

The thing about Boston drivers - they are very aggressive. But predictably aggressive. They'll cut you off, speed up, slow down, but you know they are going to do it and can be prepared. That's why I find driving in California so difficult - you don't know if they are going to be aggressive or passive.
